“Binge-watch” was added to the dictionary a few years ago, and was even the word of the year in 2015 according to Collins Dictionary. Whatever you’re into – there’s a series for you and it seems that our love for box-sets, movies and all things streaming shows no signs of stopping.
With that in mind, here’s a selection of just some of the not-to-be-missed things coming to Netflix in 2018 – get your snacks and comfies at the ready…
Netflix welcomed the New Year in with a bang and added Friends on 1 January...could we be any more excited? If you missed the fact this was added then where have you been? The UK has been rejoicing about it online ever since. Sure, we’ve seen them all approximately 89 times but they’re so classic you can’t help but watch them again. All 10 seasons are available as well - so you don’t get sucked in and then disappointed. Now, let’s get down to important business - were Ross and Rachel on a break?
This is a series that has already got people waiting expectantly. It’s the first TV production by the famous Coen brothers and is being made as a Netflix original. They’re known for popular films like No Country for Old Men and True Grit and their first step into TV is also a Western. Couple the Coen’s experience with a cast of familiar faces and you’re bound to get good results – it’s expected to be released onto Netflix in late 2018.
After the success of Netflix original Making a Murderer (if you haven’t seen it go and watch it immediately) it seems that people’s love of crime dramas and documentaries is going nowhere. Based on a true crime book by a former FBI agent, Mindhunter was released in Autumn 2017 and focuses on the development of criminal profiling in the 1970s. The first series was a big success and a second series was confirmed recently. There’s no set date for when the second season will return yet but it’s likely to be towards the end of the year – plenty of time to get excited.
January 2018 has seen the return of this popular Sci-Fi show – with the second part of season 1 being available an episode at a time every Monday. Given the fan following that Star Trek has, it might be a disappointment for people who want to binge watch all in one go but Netflix definitely know how to keep us hooked. They’ve also confirmed season 2 but no filming or release dates are announced yet…watch this space.
There are plenty of other shows worth watching that are starting on or returning to Netflix in 2018 – like Jessica Jones season two, Sense8, House of Cards…the list goes on and on.
What will you be binge watching this year?
